Capturing Lifelong Love in London

So you want photos of you and your lover but you don’t necessarily want the typical London photography locations like Tower Bridge, Southbank, and Big Ben. I get it! London is a city with so much to offer. There are so many cultures, so much history and no shortage of incredible places to explore.

As a London wedding photographer, I can help you break the mould and create photos that will show off your love for each other while also showcasing, London, the city that you love. For example, you should definitely think about having a Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park photography session. Only a stone’s throw away from Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre on London's East End, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a stunning location for couples photography, engagement photography, a pre-wedding session, and everything in between.

It doesn’t matter if you’re getting married or just want an excuse to capture your love story wherever you are on your journey together – getting stunning photos together is always rewarding. From that moment when you open your gallery of photos and the first images show up on screen your excitement builds and you remember how you felt in the moment – in love and in tune with each other – and it makes it all worth it.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Photography Session with Esther and Joe

Take, for example, this “just-because” photoshoot with Esther and Joe. We met up at Westfield Stratford City and walked over to the park to document love amidst the lush greenery of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The weather was perfect, with just a slight chill in the air, but clear skies and perfect light. We walked and talked and got to loosen up a little before we jumped into taking photos. Surprisingly, Joe told me this was their first-ever couples photoshoot! You could have fooled me because they were complete naturals in front of the camera.

We wandered through from the Westfield Shopping Centre, past the Aquatic Centre and into the Stratford waterway for this Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park photography session. Just as we got into the park the light was perfect! We were just coming into Golden Hour which was the perfect way to capture Esther and Joe’s energetic, beautiful love.

The Magic of Couple's Photography and Visual Storytelling

This Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park photography session is nothing short of magical. You can sense the love and comfort that these two lovers have forged over decades of loving and learning from each other. This middle-aged couple naturally just fell into their own groove and I was there to simply capture them being them. It was all fun and laughter which only served to highlight the depth of their long-standing love.

Couple’s photography is such a powerful medium for documenting and expressing people’s love stories. As a documentary wedding photographer, my main goal is to capture the essence of the story that’s unfolding in front of me, and of course, help to coax all of the juicy bits of it out of people to really tell their story. When Joe mentioned this was their first photoshoot as a couple I knew I had to make sure it was something special, but if I’m totally honest, it was them that made it special. This gallery really showcases their unique bond and their personality as a couple.

Regardless of whether it's an engagement a wedding or a “just because” shoot, I always try to document intimacy and magic between a couple. It’s about capturing memories that people can cherish for years to come, that they can share with their friends and family, or look back on fondly. It's about making an impact- not only visually, but on people’s lives. I love seeing couples’ reactions when they first experience their photo gallery. There’s a beautiful authenticity, a rawness that is truly rewarding.

Preparing for a Memorable Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Photography Session

There’s definitely no problem with just showing up to your Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park photography session, but there are definitely a few things you can do to prepare yourself to be in the moment and get the most out of it. Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Be in the moment with each other: You’re just vibing with your person, and that vibe will mean vibey pics! Being present and in the moment with each other will make the experience memorable and intimate.
  2. Don’t forget to relax for your couple's photography session: Relax! This couple’s photography session isn’t a big production where you have to “know what to do” or have experience as a model. Just come as you are, and be authentic.
  3. Communicate with each other: Communication is key! I’ll be talking you through what we’re doing throughout the entire process, but it’s also super important to communicate with each other. Make sure you’re sharing how you’re feeling.
  4. Be spontaneous during your couple's photography session: I always encourage my couples to embrace those unexpected, spontaneous moments with me, to experiment, and try something wild!
  5. Don’t be afraid to get intimate: Intimacy can mean something different to everyone but I think the best intimate moments are when you get close… really close. You like each other (at least a little bit 😉) so make sure you show it!
  6. Trust your photographer: If you’ve chosen to work with me, it’s probably because you love my work, and you need to trust me and my vision to give you a gallery of images you’re going to love even if it means doing to weird, crazy things to get the shot.
